Pentax SV /w Super-Takumar 55mm f1.8 [35mm kit]
Pentax SV /w Super-Takumar 55mm f1.8 [35mm kit]
The 1962 Pentax SV was the 5th in line of the S-series starting in 1958. It was Pentax' first 35mm camera to support fully automatic aperture operation (in conjunction with the Super-Takumar lenses). The standard 50mm f1.8 was usually provided with this model. Later models (with the orange R on the rewind knob) also supported the infamous 50mm f1.4 Super-Takumar lenses.
The SV is an extremely solid albeit barebones 35mm SLR. No built-in lightmeter, no autofocus, no confusing settings. Just adjust aperture and shutterspeed and start shooting. One interesting thing about the SV is that it featured a selftimer in a rather uncommon place. Where most models would have their selftimer mechanism on the front, the SV has it right underneath the rewind lever.

Camera comes in good cosmetic condition. The shutter is still within spec but we would recommend a full service when used for extended periods. The supplied 55mm f1.8 lens has clear singsn of previous use and some evenly spread dust inside. This should not affect results. Focus of the lens is smooth but sometimes feels a bit grainy. Could also benefit from a service down the road. Hence the kit is sold at a reduced price and without warranty.
A 35mm SLR set in overal good condition and definitely useable in its current shape although we do recommend a service in the long run. Great starter or for someone who wants to go the full manual route and have something slightly different than the masses.
