Cameras were not only used for pleasure but also served an important purpose in scientific/medical fields. Several brands offered modified versions of their cameras (or let 3rd parties modify theirs) for specific use cases. The legendary Olympus Pen F halfframe camera was one of them. Several of these were modified for 'Medical Use'.

This 'Medical Use Type 3' camera is even more special as it has the original PRC unit attached. Suspected is this was used for ophthalmologic use (photographing of the retina) but these are so extremely rare and specific that they were hardly documented.

These days we can still see it being used as a macro photography setup but would be a great addition to any Olympus collection.

This exceedingly rare setup comes in good cosmetic condition. The PRC unit seems to be working as expected with all lamps still in tact. The Pen F is in good shape with little signs of previous use, however in it's current condition, the shutter does not fire. We decided not to service this camera as this is the type of kit that would probably end up in an Olympus collection.
